United Sherpa Association Inc. has organized a ‘Volunteer Internship Orientation Program’ in New York on January 14, 2016. The main objective of the program was to orient the volunteers about the objectives and activities of the association. 19 volunteers from different geographical reasons in Nepal and various educational backgrounds participated the program. After the introduction of participants, Mr. Lhakpa Tenji Sherpa, the spokeperson of the association welcomed the volunteers. Mr. Kalsang Choephel, the coordinator of the Board of Trustee briefed about the history of the association.
During the program, Mr. Gelu Sherpa, the coordinator for Education and awareness sub-committee gave a short presentation on the overall program. The presentation highlighted significance of the program, scope of voluntary and internships opportunity available at the association, the process and resources for the program. After the Question-Answer Session, the volunteers gave their time commitment for various activities. Mr. Nima Dendi Sherpa, the acting president, and the Mr. Kalsang Choephel offered Khata (holy scarf) to the participants appreciating their interest and enthusiasm to volunteer for the association.
Mr. Rinji Sherpa, the coordinator for Youth and Sport; Mr. Samten N. Sherpa, the secretary, Mr. Ang Phurba Sherpa, the treasurer; Mr. Jhiku Lama and Mr. Chhiring Sherpa, the trustee members also attended the program. Mr. Ang Jangbu Sherpa, the general secretary of the current executive committee, conducted the program.
